Grey imports

1. What is a “grey imported vehicle” and where do they come from?

Vehicles that come into this country from any dealership, and those sold outside of the authorised New Zealand Bentley Motors Retailer, are called Grey Imports. Grey imports can be sourced from many right hand drive countries, either privately or via an independent commercial company.

2. What are the warranty implications for imported vehicles?

Grey imports are not covered under warranty. However, all new Bentley vehicles sold through the New Zealand Bentley Motors Retailer have a 3 year / unlimited km warranty.

3. What about recall and service campaigns?

Grey import vehicles may be included in any manufacturer safety recall, but this is only possible if the vehicle is known to exist in the local market. All vehicles purchased through the New Zealand Bentley Motors Retailer will automatically be covered under any manufacturer safety recall or service campaign.

4. Will imported vehicle satellite navigation systems work in New Zealand?

No, grey import vehicles have navigation and driver assistance systems specific to the country the vehicle was originally purchased in. These systems will not automatically work in New Zealand and it is not possible to retrofit a local solution at a Bentley dealership. Should a third-party Navigation solution be found, and an entire factory reset of your car is required, the Navigation System may return to the country of origin.

All new Bentley vehicles purchased from an authorised Bentley dealership in New Zealand are supplied with a New Zealand compatible navigation system, which includes localised navigation maps.

5. Can I still have my imported vehicle serviced by a Bentley dealership or Service Centre?

Yes. The Bentley dealer network can still assist in maintaining and servicing your Bentley. When servicing your vehicle at a Bentley dealership or Authorised Repair Centre, you can have peace of mind that genuine parts will be fitted and professionally trained technicians are carrying out work on your Bentley with the latest tools and technology.

6. What are the benefits of buying a new Bentley in New Zealand?

All new Bentley vehicles purchased through the New Zealand Bentley Motors Retailer provide the following benefits as standard:

- 3 year / unlimited km warranty
- 3 years Roadside Assistance
- Use of Bentley Motors certified and factory trained technicians, who use only genuine factory parts with a 1 year warranty (unless covered by the original warranty)
